Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM)


  • Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) is conducted in order to provide admission to candidates in
    post-bachelor Science courses offered at following institutions:

    • Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)
    • Indian Institute of Science (IISc)
    • National Institutes of Technology (NITs)
    • IISER Bhopal & IISER Pune
    • Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur (IIEST Shibpur)
    • Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology Punjab (SLIET Punjab)
  • Candidates can enroll for the admission in the following courses on the basis of their score in JAM
    • MSc (offered at IITs, NITs, IIEST, SLIET)
    • Integrated PhD (offered at IISc, IISER Bhopal, IISER Pune).
  • Candidates who have cleared their graduation with at least 55% aggregate marks in relevant subject areas are eligible to appear for IIT JAM exam.
  • IIT JAM exam is conducted in a total of seven test papers as mentioned below:

  • A total of 15 IITs, 16 NITs, and two Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) accept JAM scores for MSc admissions.
  • It may be noted that IIT Dhanbad (also known as ISM Dhanbad) has been added to the list of participating institutes in 2018. Till 2017, a total of 14 IITs accepted JAM scores.
  • It may also be noted that NITs and CFTIs accept JAM score through Centralized Counselling for MSc/ MSc (Tech) Admissions (CCMN).
